Our Local St Mary's Governors

  • One Vice Chair of Governors- Alison Warner
  • Two Headteachers (Executive Headteacher – Maureen Andrews & Head of School – Karen Miller who is an Associate Governor)
  • Two Foundation Governors – Matthew Rhodes & David Clark
  • Parent Governors – Duncan Payne, Hywel Jones & Wendy Foster
  • One Staff Governor – Michelle Grant

What do our Local Governors do?

The Governing Body is here to help the school provide the best possible education for our pupils by:

  • Thinking and working strategically to help to raise standards
  • Monitoring and evaluating progress towards the school’s priorities and targets
  • Supporting the Executive Headteacher, Head of School and staff as well as challenging their expectations
  • Accounting to all stakeholders for the school’s overall performance and for the decisions they have made.

There are three main areas in the role of the school governors:

  1. To take a largely strategic role in the running of the school
  2. To act as a critical friend to the school
  3. To ensure accountability of the governing body to the parents and of the Executive Headteacher/Head of School  to the governing body.
